The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of synthetic biology, education and competition, and the development of an open community and collaboration. Performance at IGEM’s Grand Jamboree, which includes competitions at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels, is often cited as a measure of progress for countries’ synthetic biology workforce (NIH, Royal Society of Biology).

The 2022 Jamboree will take place on 26-28 October 2022 and include competition in three categories: Overgrad, Undergrad, and High School. Teams will count as a winner or runner up if they are awarded the Grand Prize, 1st Runner Up, or 2nd Runner Up in any of these categories. At the 2021 iGEM Grand Jamboree, winners and runners up across all categories came from Germany, France, China, the Netherlands, and Singapore. All past competition results can be found here. Winners and runners up have been named since 2016.
