New York City employs ranked choice voting for primary and special elections, including that of mayoral primary (NYC Board of Elections). The Democratic mayoral primary is slated to be held on 24 June 2025. While incumbent Eric Adams is running as an independent, there are at least 10 candidates vying for the Democratic ticket (City & State). According to polling from PIX11, Emerson College, and The Hill, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has a 12 percentage point lead over Zohran Mamdani. However, with ranked-choice voting, Cuomo’s lead shrinks to 8 points (PIX11). 
Resolution Criteria: This question will be resolved using open source news media reports on the election results of the Democratic mayoral primary. If Cuomo wins the primary in five rounds or fewer, the question will resolve “Yes”. If Cuomo wins in six or more rounds, or if Cuomo loses, the question will resolve “No”. In the event that results are not clear, RFI admins will wait for the official election results to be released by the New York City Board of Elections.
