How many global victims of data-leaking ransomware will there be in August 2025, according to Data Breaches Digest?

Cybersecurity researchers predict that global ransomware damage costs will exceed $275 billion by 2031, with attacks predicted to occur every two seconds (Cybercrime Magazine, Cybercrime Magazine). Data Breaches Digest reported there were 528 victims of data leaking ransomware in April 2025 and 965 victims in March. Historical August data shows: 
  • 449 victims in August 2024
  • 398 victims in August 2023
  • 198 victims in August 2022

Resolution Criteria: This question will resolve based on the "Total Victims" count reported in Data Breaches Digest's "Data-Leaking Ransomware Report – August 2025."
To find the August report (expected to be available in September):
  • Navigate to the Data Breaches Digest website
  • Access the Archive section on the right-hand side
  • Select 2025 → September → "Data-Leaking Ransomware Report – August 2025"
  • Download the PDF report
  • Locate the "Total Victims" figure (typically found on Slide 2; ensure it is the “global victims" figure)
