I'm a professor of computer science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In the early 1990s, I served for four years as a Congressional staffer at the Office of Technology Assessment. I have also served on multiple boards and groups that aim to inform and recommend directions for new research, including DARPA's Information Science & Technology (ISAT) group and the Computing Research Association's CCC Council.
